Rainfall last week favored the western and northwestern Corn Belt as well as southern locations with diminished amounts as you move further east. Over the weekend, the rainfall favored the northwestern Corn Belt once again. The forecast for this week is calling for scattered showers favoring the central and northwestern Midwest with warm temperatures to start the week and cooler temperatures to end the week.
In the August Crop Report released last week, the USDA lowered the 2025 U.S. soybean acreage 2.5 million acres to 80.9 million. The soybean harvested acreage was lowered 2.4 million acres to 80.1 million. The soybean yield was increased 1.1 bushels to a record 53.6 bushels per acre.
The 2025 U.S. soybean yield was increased 0.5 bushels this week to 53.0 bu/ac. For the last couple of years, August weather has turned out dryer than normal. If that happens again this year, the U.S. soybean yield will probably end up below the USDA's estimate of 53.6 bu/ac.
The condition of the soybean crop was unchanged at 68% good/excellent. Soybeans are 95% blooming compared to 94% last year and 95% average and the soybeans are 82% setting pods compared to 80% last year and 82% average.
