2026 U.S. Corn Rated 68% Gd/Ex, Soybeans 65% Gd/Ex

Corn - The condition of the 2026 U.S. corn improved 1% last week to 68% rated good/excellent, Twelve states indicated that the corn condition improved last week, and 6 states indicated that the corn condition declined last week. Most of the improvements were found in the central areas, while most of the declines were found in the eastern areas. The top five rated corn states are: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Tennessee. The five lowest rated corn states are: North Carolina, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana.
Corn is 34% silking compared to 32% last year and 30% average. Corn is 6% in dough compared to 6% last year and 5% average.
Soybeans - The condition of the 2026 U.S. soybean crop improved 1% last week to 65% rated good/excellent. Ten states indicated that the soybean condition improved last week, and 8 states indicated that the soybean condition declined last week. Most of the improvements were found in the central areas while most of the declines were found in the southern areas. The top five rated soybean states are: Minnesota, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Mississippi, and a tie between Iowa and Tennessee. The five lowest rated soybean states are: North Carolia, North Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, and Louisiana.
Soybeans are 50% blooming compared to 45% last year and 44% average and soybeans are 19% setting pods compared to 14% last year and 13% average.
Soil Moisture - The nation's topsoil moisture declined last week with 7 states indicating improved soil moisture and 11 states indicating lower soil moisture. Most of the improvements were found in the southern areas while most of the declines were found in the central and northern areas. The five states with the highest soil moisture are: Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. The five states with the lowest soil moisture are: Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Carolina, and North Dakota.
Extreme heat was recorded over the weekend in the northern Plains and the northwestern Corn Belt. Temperatures will ease a bit this week but still remain above average. Rainfall over the weekend was mainly in the far southern Midwest and the mid-South. Any significant rain this week will favor the far eastern Corn Belt. The soil moisture rating next Monday could decline significantly.
